Fresh Water World

2017 USA

The World Freshwater Spearfishing Championship (WFSC) is a new, international competition held every other year on freshwater lakes. The first event will take place on May 18th and 19th, 2017, in the warm waters of Lake Mead, Nevada. Divers will compete in two separate challenges: hunting Striped Bass on the first day and Carp on the second. Both these fish are invasive species that the local wildlife department wants removed from the lake, and all catches will be used for consumption. The competition is team-based, with countries allowed two teams in each of four divisions: Masters, Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles.
