THERE IS NO SPEARFISHING IN THE TOURNAMENT REGION 30 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT.
HOWEVER YOU MAY SPEARFISH OUT SIDE THE TOURNAMENT AREA AT ANY TIME.
BY BOAT: drive north until you reach the narrowest section alf the lake, here you will find a no ski buy line this is the northern boundary of the event.
You may spearfishing any where north of the boundary line.
OR
DRIVE to shoot in Echo Bay. Take road 167 around the west side of the lake north to a little marina, Echo Bay, drive past the marina on the left and you have lots of opportunities to dive off to your left side. If you shoot the carp just knife their bladders so they don’t float, they sink.
OR
Drive over the Hoover Dam to the south 15 miles to a park called Willow Beach, don’t dive in or near the marked marina.
Dive at the first beach and south or the most northern beach near the fish Hatchery. Lots of carp and the biggest striper in the river swim through here.
Record is 76 pounds. **Dont shoot he humpback looking carp they are endangered—big fine.
The water here is 52-54 degrees, and requires a 7mm suit.
Nevada Spearfishing Rules
Persons may spearfish for striped bass in Lake Mead and in Lake Mohave from Cottonwood Cove to the cable below Hoover Dam. Spearfishing for striped bass is prohibited in that portion of Lake Mohave from Cottonwood Cove to Davis Dam and from Davis Dam down river to the Nevada state line. In Lakes Mead and Mohave and the Colorado River system, spearfishing is prohibited within 1/2 mile of any dock or swimming area.
When spearfishing, a person must display, within 100 feet, an appropriate diver’s flag. A mechanical spearing device may be used only under the surface of the water, and the spear must be attached to the device by a lanyard. Fishing license regulations apply when spearfishing.
